Our first Saturday volunteer day of the year will focus on cleaning up an abandoned dump site in the southern area of the Preserve. A prior landowner in this area dumped a variety of garbage here including appliances, car parts, metal barrels, glass bottles, tires, and more. Be prepared for a workout as we haul these heavy items out of the woods! Due to the difficulty of the work, this event is restricted to participants aged 16 and older.
Attire: Proper footwear (close-toed, treaded shoes) is required - we will be hiking on uneven ground off the trails. Wear long sleeves and pants to protect against briars, poison ivy, and ticks. Bug spray, sunscreen, and a hat will help keep you comfortable.
Equipment: Please bring your own pair of protective work gloves and a bottle of water to stay hydrated.
Location: We will meet in Parking Lot East and head to the work site as a group. Be sure to arrive on time so we don't leave you behind!
