CRi is a nonprofit based in Chantilly; providing housing and services in over 50 locations throughout Northern Virginia, Richmond and Maryland. CRi supports individuals with disabilities and/or mental health diagnoses, homeless men and women as well as teens aging out of the foster care system. In every location, CRi works to offer supportive housing options that foster and facilitate community integration. Currently, CRi provides supportive housing to more than four hundred individuals, and every individual receiving residential services with CRi live on fixed incomes at or below the federal poverty guidelines.
CRi is hosting a 5k race and fun run/walk fundraising event at Occoquan Regional Park on Saturday, 8 June at 9am. Volunteers are needed to man water stations, act as course sentries, assist with registration, packet pickup, hand out tshirts and snacks/drinks as well as help with set up and clean up. Setup volunteers are needed as early as 6:30am or 7am depending on the amount of volunteers who sign up. Some of the volunteer opportunities do not require you to be present for the entire event. So if you only have an hour or two, please let us know and we can place you in opportunities that fit your schedule. If you would like to volunteer AND participate in the race, you would need to let us know in advance as well.
This event is a great opportunity for groups of all sizes! We welcome corporate service day groups, school clubs or sports teams, Boy Scouts/Girl Scouts, small businesses and families just to name a few. We are also looking for a middle and/or high school Cheer teams interested in volunteering to encourage the race participants along the route. Youth ages 12-14 welcome to volunteer alongside a parent. Must maintain a 1:1 parent/child ratio. Youth 15+ will need to have a waiver form signed by a parent or guardian to volunteer on their own.
