Position Summary
Gallery Docents are a great asset to any non-profit arts organization. Docents will be responsible for maintaining the gallery desk and greeting visitors.
The qualified candidate should ideally have availability in the mornings (Monday-Friday) and/or afternoons. This is a part-time UNPAID volunteer position; hours may vary based on candidate’s availability.
Essential Job Functions:
- Remain at the front desk and greet all visitors
- Maintain a friendly demeanor when interacting with visitors
- Enthusiastically promote Center for the Arts history, programs, and practices
Typical Physical Demands:
Position does not require any physical exertion.
Typical Working Conditions:
The Gallery Docent works at the gallery desk in the lobby of the Center for the Arts. Docent shifts are typically 2 hours long, but shifts can be extended if docent has flexible availability.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to present information concisely and effectively to visitors
- Friendly demeanor and excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to interact in an effective and appropriate manner with diverse populations
- A love for the arts is not required, but preferred
The successful candidate will be required to pass a routine criminal background check.
