Merrimac Garden Volunteer Days - August

Description

A weekly chance to care for the garden that sustains our pollinators

Each week, volunteers gather at Merrimac Farm Wildlife Management Area to tend our native pollinator garden — a living habitat that supports bees, butterflies, birds, and the wildlife that rely on healthy native plants. Your stewardship helps this space flourish through the growing season, and every session strengthens the ecosystem around it.

What We Do
  • Garden stewardship: removing invasive plants, protecting native species, and refreshing mulch
  • Pollinator support: maintaining the habitat that sustains local pollinator populations
  • Community connection: learning native plants and meeting nature‑minded neighbors
When & Where
Specified weekend dates (usually Saturdays), from 8–11 AM.
Morning shifts are typically three hours, but volunteers are welcome to arrive late or leave early.

What to Bring
Gloves, gardening tools (if you have them), and a reusable water bottle. Feel free to bring a friend. There is always plenty to do.

Why It Matters
Every hour spent in the garden helps restore habitat, strengthen native plant communities, and create a thriving space for pollinators. Volunteers are the reason this garden continues to grow season after season.
