Good Shepherd Housing Foundation (GSHF) provides safe, stable, and affordable housing to individuals and families in need throughout Prince William County. Our mission is to prevent homelessness and foster long-term housing stability, empowering residents to build stronger futures. Volunteers play a vital role in helping us maintain quality housing for our residents.

Position Overview
We are seeking skilled labor volunteers to assist with property maintenance and repair needs across our housing units. This role is ideal for professionals or experienced individuals in fields such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical work, roofing, carpentry, pest control, gutter repair, and other home maintenance specialties. By donating your time and expertise, you help ensure our residents live in safe, functional, and dignified homes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform repairs, maintenance, or specialized projects based on your area of expertise.

  • Assess property needs and provide recommendations for repairs or improvements.

  • Collaborate with GSHF staff and other volunteers to schedule and complete projects.

  • Follow all safety guidelines and ensure quality workmanship.

  • Use your own tools, when possible (materials may be provided by GSHF).

  • Maintain professionalism and respect when working in or around occupied homes.

Desired Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience and/or professional training in a skilled trade (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing, carpentry, pest control, etc.).

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Must be reliable and committed to scheduled volunteer projects.

  • Commitment to the mission and values of Good Shepherd Housing Foundation.
