Greetings, Prince William!  We hope you've had a fantastic start to the new month and are ready for the weekend ahead.

This year's NABA Butterfly Count is just around the corner!  Prince William Conservation Alliance would love to have you join in on Sunday, July 19th, for this important day of community science! The data collected for the North American Butterfly Association (NABA) each year helps scientists monitor butterfly numbers and track trends across the continent.

Each team will be led by an experienced team lead. You will meet them in the field at a prearranged location in the morning, typically around 9 am or 10 am, depending on the section and the leader, then spend the morning and afternoon identifying and counting butterflies.  Check out their volunteer opportunity for more information or to sign up: https://tinyurl.com/bd46r6re

The Workhouse Arts Center will hold their Annual Fireworks event on Saturday, June 27th.  They are looking for several volunteers that'll be crucial to the success of the event.  Tasks such as guiding attendees, assisting with parking, administering mini golf, staffing info booths, way finding, setting up, tearing down, and supporting vendor booths.  Volunteers must be 16+ or must volunteer with a parent or guardian if younger.  Check out their volunteer opportunity with time slots or to sign up: https://tinyurl.com/mrrnj6eu

Girls on the Run of NOVA is currently in need of role models!  The impact of a Girls on the Run volunteer coach is as boundless as it is beautiful. Coaches work to support the Girls on the Run vision of a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams. Lace up your sneakers and inspire a group of participants to be strong, confident, and healthy! Girls on the Run is a youth development program for girls in 3rd through 8th grade that creatively integrates running and physical movement. Teams of volunteer coaches are trained to facilitate our easy-to-follow curriculum with small groups of participants twice a week over the course of an eight-week season. You don't need to be a runner or a competitive athlete to coach! Successful coaches only need to serve as role models for girls by showing up prepared and on time, by listening attentively, and by demonstrating a positive attitude! GOTR NOVA encourages applications from minorities, people with disabilities, individuals who are bilingual and all other qualified applicants.

Coaches are required to commit to 2-3 hours per week for the season, with a few additional hours required for Coach Training and the GOTR NOVA season ending 5K celebration. Practice schedules will vary based on team. GOTR's Fall 2026 Season starts the week of September 21, 2026 and ends on November 23, 2026.  Ready to learn more or sign up?  https://tinyurl.com/ymnfyt5f
