Greetings, Prince William!  We are excited to share that we were featured in the May 2026 issue Prince William Living.  While many know us for our Untrim-A-Tree and Senior Basket Program, that's just the beginning. This feature highlights the other programs we offer and the impact we're making across the community throughout the year!

None of this work would be possible without the incredible support of our community partners, residents, and local businesses-we're so grateful to be part of such a giving community.  Check out the article to learn more: https://bit.ly/4cUuNIX

One of the programs highlighted in the article is our Veteran Enhanced Transportation Service (VETS) Program.  If you are passionate about supporting our local Veterans, please consider joining our VETS Program and help give back to those in our community who need it most.  Our VETS volunteers pick up the Veterans for medical appointments, grocery store runs, senior centers, and more.  Once signed up, you decide how often you drive and schedule as many or as few rides as you'd like. If you love being outside and gardening, we have a great opportunity for you!  Prince William Conservation Alliance is looking for volunteers age 18+ to help at their Wildlife Garden in Nokesville. Shifts are available Saturdays 9am-12pm through May and June. More information or sign up: https://tinyurl.com/ycyccnjf

Prince William Conservation Alliance will also host the Kim Hosen Memorial Hike on May 16th beginning at 10am.  Kim was the founder of the Alliance and took great pride in reminding us that Prince William County encompassed a unique landscape and critical environmental resources that serve as the foundation for quality of life for wildlife and residents alike.  Find out more information or get your ticket here: https://tinyurl.com/bdf6p8br

Join Girls on the Run of NOVA at their 5K Celebration being held May 16 at Jiffy Lube Live in Bristow and May 17 at Pentagon City in Arlington. Over 100 volunteers are needed for each 5K and there's no shortage of roles you can fill! Your group will feel great as they support the strength and confidence of these girls as they complete this celebratory run! Please consider helping them make this fun event a success by visiting their volunteer opportunity to learn more and signing up! https://bit.ly/4d8IxSl

If you enjoy working outdoors, here's an opportunity the whole family can enjoy!  Prince William Trails & Streams Coalition is holding a family-friendly Trail Workday of the Occoquan Greenway Trail on May 23, 9am-12pm. They'll be working on a short trail reroute and installing a 16-ft wooden bridge over a stream channel.  The purpose is to reroute the trail away from a consistently wet area onto higher ground for a better hiking and biking experience. It's a great way to get the family involved and enjoy the outdoor spring weather! Volunteers as young as 12 are welcome!  Read their entire volunteer post or sign up here: https://tinyurl.com/mrypjksz

Prefer to beat the heat and volunteer indoors this summer? BEACON is looking for volunteers age 18+ to be Summer Conversation Class Instructors July 16 through 23. No experience required and BEACON will provide all materials. Some classes meet 9:30am-11:30am while other classes meet 7pm-9pm. It's all virtual, so you can stay out of the hot summer weather while helping to promote adult literacy! Want more info?  You can find it here or sign up: https://tinyurl.com/4ybc248e

As a reminder, it's free to post on our website (www.volunteerpw.org) for any volunteer needs or community events you may be having! Posting on our website allows us to add your events to our weekly posts and is a great way to spread the word and connect with new volunteers in the community. If you know of other organizations who could benefit from this free service, please share this information with them so we can continue building a stronger community together!
