Greetings, Prince William! We hope you've had a great week and are gearing up for the weekend ahead. We are excited to introduce you to a non-profit in this area looking for volunteers.
· Please join Anything's PAWSible on April 18 to volunteer at their 4th Annual Festival and 5K. The event will be held on the Manassas Museum Lawn located at 9101 Prince William Street, Manassas 20110. Volunteers aged 15+ can help set up and support the 5K runners, set up the festival, help with festival support and assist with cleanup after the event. It's a fantastic way to enjoy the outdoors while helping this organization raise funds to assist children with special needs in obtaining service dogs! · On April 18th, Lake Jackson Volunteer Fire Department will hold their Super Bingo, which will include a FULL DAY of fun, prizes, and community support! Join them for great prizes, laughter, and a fun day of playing bingo at this great event. Want to help make the event possible? · Are you ready for a delicious meal from Texas Roadhouse? Support Lake Jackson Volunteer Fire Department on April 15th from 3pm until 10pm during the Dine to Donate fundraiser.
· Join Girls on the Run of NOVA at their 5K Celebration being held May 16 at Jiffy Lube Live in Bristow and May 17 at Pentagon City in Arlington. Over 100 volunteers are needed for each 5K and there's no shortage of roles you can fill! Your group will feel great as they support the strength and confidence of these girls as they complete this celebratory run! · Do you love gardening or are you interested in learning? Hands on Harvests Grow a Row Program supports gardeners of all levels. If you have your own family garden, or are thinking of starting one, they'll provide you with seeds, seedlings and mentorship. · Veterans Connect is looking for drivers to help keep our local Veterans healthy by assisting them with transportation to vital medical appointments. Drivers must be 21+ and be able to pass a background screening. Learn more here: https://bit.ly/4dt6pAm
· Lucky Dog Animal Rescue is looking for dog and cat drivers for their rescue animals! Help save dogs and cats in need of loving homes. You can find a full list of locations and decide when you're available and which locations you're willing to drive to! Volunteers must be 18 or older. · If you have a passion for teaching and organizing programs and are fueled by the desire to raise awareness and understanding of Alzheimer's and related dementia diseases - the Alzheimer's Association National Capital Area Chapter needs you! They are currently looking for Community Educators. · You can make a difference in the life of a child! CASA CIS needs volunteers age 21+ who care about children growing up in a safe, permanent and loving home. The staff will hold their next Virtual Information Session on April 8th from 6pm-7pm. Learn how you can help protect abused and neglected children in your community by becoming a volunteer advocate. · Now that spring is here, we have a fun outdoor opportunity to get involved with the Quantico Creek Spring Cleanup hosted by the Town of Dumfries on April 11th. · Meals on Wheels NEEDS your help! They are looking for groups who can help with delivery of hot, nutritious meals to homebound seniors on weekdays throughout the Greater Prince William community. Currently meals are delivered on Tuesdays and Thursdays only. Groups can help expand deliveries by making them available on additional weekdays. Routes take about 1.5 hours to complete. Groups will help tremendously as they not only deliver hot meals, but also provide a friendly face and visit for a homebound senior to look forward to! · If you enjoy working with senior citizens, we have an exciting opportunity for you! The Area Agency on Aging is launching a new program called Senior Center Without Walls which will expand senior center programs into the community and reach older adults who currently face barriers to participation in the senior centers in Manassas and Woodbridge. Volunteers age 21 and up are needed to help with programs in areas such as nutrition, fitness, creative arts, games and more. Volunteer individually or as a team! · If you love the Manassas Museum and want to support the museum, there's an opportunity for greeters, support staff, and more. · Celebrate Earth Day by participating in the Brentsville Invasive Species Removal Volunteer Day April 19th at Brentsville Courthouse, 12229 Brentsville Road, Bristow 20136. The event happens 9:30am-12:30pm and no experience is needed! This is a good opportunity to earn that Scout conservation badge and earn student volunteer hours!
