Weekly Happenings

March 27, 2026

Greetings, Prince William!  Let's celebrate the first Spring weekend and dive right into all of the upcoming events and volunteer needs for our community!

·   Now that spring is here, we have a fun outdoor opportunity to get involved with the Quantico Creek Spring Cleanup hosted by the Town of Dumfries on April 11th.  Volunteers under 18 are welcome when accompanied by a parent at this family-friendly clean-up event.  Get more information or sign up here: https://tinyurl.com/dc4hmhzn

·   Meals on Wheels NEEDS your help!  They are looking for groups who can help with delivery of hot, nutritious meals to homebound seniors on weekdays throughout the Greater Prince William community. Currently meals are delivered on Tuesdays and Thursdays only.  Groups can help expand deliveries by making them available on additional weekdays. Routes take about 1.5 hours to complete. Groups will help tremendously as they not only deliver hot meals, but also provide a friendly face and visit for a homebound senior to look forward to!  Learn how your group can help: https://bit.ly/47z172f

·   Join Girls on the Run of NOVAat their 5K Celebration being held May 16 at Jiffy Lube Live in Bristow and May 17 at Pentagon City in Arlington. Over 100 volunteers are needed for each 5K and there's no shortage of roles you can fill! Your group will feel great as they support the strength and confidence of these girls as they complete this celebratory run! Please consider helping them make this fun event a success by visiting their volunteer opportunity to learn more and signing up! https://bit.ly/4d8IxSl

·   We Are Artistic has another great outdoor volunteer opportunity for the Best Buddies Friendship Walk in DC on April 25th.  Guide kids to create handmade cards, review cards, encourage creativity, and more! Prefer to be a greeter or photographer?  There's an opportunity for that, too!  See all the available volunteer needs for this event and sign up here: https://tinyurl.com/22bvd4ae  They also need a few volunteers to help on April 2nd at the upcoming Cardozo Community Service Fair.  Help with setup, greeting students, and sharing information about the programs, events, and virtual opportunities.  Find out more or sign up here: https://tinyurl.com/mpbws85w

·   If you enjoy working with senior citizens, we have an exciting opportunity for you!  The Area Agency on Aging is launching a new program called Senior Center Without Walls which will expand senior center programs into the community and reach older adults who currently face barriers to participation in the senior centers in Manassas and Woodbridge. Volunteers age 21 and up are needed to help with programs in areas such as nutrition, fitness, creative arts, games and more.  Volunteer individually or as a team!  Find out more here: https://bit.ly/3N53y5P

·   House of Mercy is looking for volunteers to help fight hunger in our community by helping in their food pantry.  Opportunities include sorting food, repackaging bulk items, and preparing carts to help local families.  Additionally, they are looking for volunteer drivers to pick up food rescue donations from local partners.  Volunteers can be 12 years or older, which makes this a great opportunity for the whole family!  Find out more here: https://tinyurl.com/y4swyxzc

·   If you love the Manassas Museum and want to support the museum, there's an opportunity for greeters, support staff, and more.  This is a great opportunity for community service hours and involvement.  Volunteers as young as 15 can help out with parent permission!  Learn more or sign up here: https://tinyurl.com/39mjvy3c

·   If you love doing grounds work and yardwork - we have an amazing outdoor volunteer opportunity for you!  Help Willing Warriors make a great first impression by maintaining their 37 acres nestled at the foot of the Bull Run Mountains.  This is a year-long effort and requires volunteers who love to be outdoors and assist with this type of work. ·   Celebrate Earth Day by participating in the Brentsville Invasive Species Removal Volunteer Day April 19th at Brentsville Courthouse, 12229 Brentsville Road, Bristow 20136. The event happens 9:30am-12:00pm and no experience is needed! This is a good opportunity to earn that Scout conservation badge and earn student volunteer hours! ·   Prince William Special Olympics has a need for adult and youth volunteers.  Assist with sports practice, coaching, sports events, administrative duties, and more.  See their opportunities here: https://bit.ly/4sDinvG

·   Volunteer as an ESOL Teacher for BEACON and join their mission to empower adult English learners! They're urgently looking for passionate volunteers to teach English to speakers of other languages (ESOL) for the spring semester. No teaching experience or language skills required - they provide all the training and materials you'll need. Volunteers can choose morning or evening classes, offered online or in person in Manassas and Manassas Park. This is a powerful way to connect, inspire, and help others achieve their goals, all while gaining new skills and friendships!  Find more info here: https://tinyurl.com/5d65u7ss

·   Are you a Volunteer Coordinator in the community? If you lead or support volunteers in our community, you won't want to miss the 2026 Community Volunteer Summit. This free event is happening April 16, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the McCoart Building Board Chambers (1 County Complex Court, Woodbridge).

This summit is designed specifically for Volunteer Coordinators and nonprofit leaders looking to strengthen their programs and expand their impact on our community. Connect with peer organizations, exchange ideas, and gain practical insights through engaging sessions!

Representatives from Volunteer Prince William will also lead an interactive training on the free Galaxy volunteer management tool available through our website. Click here to reserve your spot!

Do you need volunteers or have an upcoming community event? Don't forget you can post your volunteer needs and upcoming community events on our website (www.volunteerpw.org) for free! Posting on our website allows us to add your events to our weekly posts and is a great way to spread the word and connect with new volunteers in the community!
