Weekly Happenings

March 20, 2026

Greetings, Prince William and Happy First Day of Spring!  Let's dive right into all of the upcoming events and volunteer needs for our community!

·   March 25th and 26th Volunteer Prince William will hold a Dine for Dollar$ fundraising event at Foster's Grille in Old Town Manassas (9417 West St).  All money earned from this fundraiser will go toward the 2026 Untrim-A-Tree Program, which provides Christmas gifts for upwards of 4,000 children in Prince William County, Manassas Park, and Manassas City annually.  This program is 100% donor funded and requires us to fundraise all year to make sure these kids have something on Christmas morning.  If you wish to support the fundraiser, it's simple - order lunch or dinner at Foster's Grille and let them know you want to support Volunteer Prince William!  This includes third-party orders such as Grubhub.  Just make sure to call the store and let them know to add your order to our fundraiser.  If you want to support the fundraiser, but don't want to place an order - we take tax-deductible donations all year, as well.  You can make a donation here: https://bit.ly/4miE2Gh

·   March 25th from 10am until 2pm join us for the Community Resource Fair! This Resource Fair is focused on addressing the needs of older adults.  This Resource Fair will provide community members the opportunity to visit and learn from a variety of community partners focusing on addressing the needs of older adults - covering topics that matter in everyday life. Planned resources include nutritious low-cost meals, healthy snacks, social and recreational opportunities at the Senior Centers, and much more!

Participating partners represent county agencies, health and wellness partners, and nonprofit organizations.  We hope you join us at the Pat White Center at Ben Lomond located at 10501 Copeland Drive in Manassas.

·   Have you marked your calendar for the 2026 Bluebell Festival?  The festival will be held on Sunday, March 29th from 10am until 3pm at Merrimac Farms WMA.  Join Prince William Conservation Alliance in making this event a success by volunteering for one of their many openings!  View their community events and all volunteer opportunities here: https://tinyurl.com/4bvtyc3h

·   We Are Artistic needs a few volunteers to help on April 2nd at the upcoming Cardozo Community Service Fair.  Help out with setup, greeting students, and sharing information about the programs, events, and virtual opportunities.  Find out more or sign up here: https://tinyurl.com/mpbws85w

·   House of Mercy is looking for volunteers to help them fight hunger in our community by helping in their food pantry.  Opportunities include sorting food, repackaging bulk items, and preparing carts to help local families.  Additionally, they are looking for volunteer drivers to pick up food rescue donations from local partners.  Volunteers can be 12 years or older, which makes this a great opportunity for the whole family!  Find out more here: https://tinyurl.com/y4swyxzc

·   Now that spring is arriving, we have an opportunity to get involved with the Quantico Creek Spring Cleanup hosted by the Town of Dumfries on April 11th.  Volunteers under 18 are welcome when accompanied by a parent at this family-friendly clean-up event.  Get more information or sign up here: https://tinyurl.com/dc4hmhzn

·   You can make a difference in the life of a child! CASA CIS needs volunteers age 21+ who care about children growing up in a safe, permanent and loving home.  The staff will hold their next Virtual Information Session on March 25th from 6pm-7pm.  Learn how you can help protect abused and neglected children in your community by becoming a volunteer advocate.  View this opportunity and obtain more information: https://tinyurl.com/yk6fc76y

·   Is your business, church, or club looking for a group opportunity? Meals on Wheels is looking for groups who can help with delivery of hot, nutritious meals to homebound seniors on weekdays throughout the Greater Prince William community. Currently meals are delivered on Tuesdays and Thursdays only.  Groups can help expand deliveries by making them available on additional weekdays. Routes take about 1.5 hours to complete. Groups will help tremendously as they not only deliver hot meals but also provide a friendly face and visit for a homebound senior to look forward to!  Learn how your group can help: https://bit.ly/47z172f

·   If you enjoy working with senior citizens, we have an exciting opportunity for you!  The Area Agency on Aging is launching a new program called Senior Center Without Walls which will expand senior center programs into the community and reach older adults who currently face barriers to participation in the senior centers in Manassas and Woodbridge. Volunteers age 21 and up are needed to help with programs in areas such as nutrition, fitness, creative arts, games and more.  Volunteer individually or as a team!  Find out more here: https://bit.ly/3N53y5P
