Volunteer Prince William's Untrim a Tree program is in full swing again! The online donor form is available to sponsor a child or donate a Senior Basket; please visit www.volunteerprincewilliam.org/donate/untrim a-tree-donor-interest-form.html to fill out and submit a form. You'll feel great being part of a program which helped over 4,000 children in Title I schools have a Happy Christmas in 2024! • Please join Woodbridge District Supervisor Margaret Angela Franklin and the wonderful staff of Keep Prince William Beautiful in their Route 1 Cleanup on November 15, 9am-12pm. Two groups of 20 volunteers will help clean different sections of the road. Volunteers age 16+ welcome, volunteers under 16 must be accompanied by a guardian. You'll enjoy being out in the fresh air as you help beautify this busy route before the holidays begin! • You can make a difference in the life of a child! CASA CIS needs volunteers age 21+ who care about children growing up in a safe, permanent and loving home. The staff will hold their next Virtual Information Session on November 19, 6pm-7pm. Learn how you can help protect abused and neglected children in your community by becoming a volunteer advocate. • Help vulnerable families have a holiday meal for Thanksgiving! ACTS' Share the Bounty program is accepting food donations until November 20 at their Food Donation Center, 17958 Dr. David Cline Drive, Dumfries, Monday-Thursday. Volunteers are also needed to help sort food donations and assemble bags for clients. You'll feel great knowing your giving spirit will help food insecure families have a Happy Thanksgiving! • Mark your calendars! The Town of Dumfries is holding its Holiday Parade and Tree Lighting November 22. Volunteers age 18+ are needed to help with checking in/lining up participants, helping with participant spacing to ensure they aren't following each other too closely and parking. Get a jump start on the holidays by supporting this family-friendly event! Please email yragland@dumfriesva.gov for more information.
• Help House of Mercy make Christmas happen for low-income children by supporting their Christmas With Mercy program! Volunteer Elves are needed December 2 thru 13 to help with toy sorting/organizing, gift wrapping and assisting parents with selecting gifts for their children (December 12 & 13). All volunteering will be held at House of Mercy, 8150 Flannery Court, Manassas 20109. • Ho Ho Ho! Get into the holiday spirit by volunteering for Santa Lights Manassas on December 5 and the 79th Greater Manassas Christmas Parade December 6 in Old Town Manassas! These events would not be possible without the support of over 300 volunteers which lets them spread holiday cheer to the community! Volunteers are needed to help stage the participants, answer spectator questions and keep everyone safe so they can enjoy the parade and the tree lighting.
