Greetings, Prince William: Save the Date! The Bull Run Watershed Protectors invite you to the Bull Run Watershed Spring Cleanup 2025 being held March 8, 9am-11am. Volunteers will help clean up the stream valley behind Costco, across Lomond to Ashton Avenue and the shops/restaurants adjacent down to Walgreens at Sudley Manor Drive. Families, students, scouts, teams, and other groups are welcome. Earn Volunteer Hours! Volunteers will meet at the Walgreens parking lot, 10671 Sudley Manor Drive, Manassas 20109. Gloves, safety vests, trash bags and grabbers will be loaned to participants for the cleanup. You'll feel great being part of a movement that has removed over 14,000 pounds of trash since 2018! · The spring semester (March 7-June 25) for BEACON for English Language and Literacy is fast approaching! They're recruiting for morning and evening Volunteer Teachers and Substitutes, both online and in-person. One-day-a-week and two-day-a-week options are available at various class levels. Evening classes meet 7pm-9pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays in Manassas, Manassas Park, or on Zoom. Morning classes meet 9:30am-11:30am on Mondays and Wednesdays in Manassas or on Zoom. No teaching or foreign language experience is required, and training is provided. · If you enjoy going fishing, here's something for you! Brain Injury Services (BIS) needs a volunteer to be a PALS (Providing a Link for Survivors) for a brain injury survivor who lives in Prince William County; this individual enjoys going fishing. Once a month outings for other things such as coffee, walks, chess, lunch, etc. can help this client get their life back on track following a traumatic brain injury! · Are your kids in need of service hours for school, church or a club? Catholic Charities St. Lucy Food Project is hosting a family-friendly Day of Service on Saturday, March 29, 10am-1pm at their food warehouse located at 8426 Kao Circle, Manassas 20110. You'll feel great as you help fight food insecurity by packing and sorting food donations and preparing bags for food collections! Close-toed shoes are required; volunteers should be prepared for heavy lifting. Parents/guardians, please submit a parental consent form for minors. · You can show your support of our Vietnam veterans! Hero's Bridge is holding their Vietnam Veterans Day 5K March 29 at Warrenton-Fauquier Airport, 1533 Iris Trail, Midland 22728 and they need 4-6 volunteers age 16+ from 9am to 12pm to support the event. Duties include direct parking traffic, cheering on runners, handing out water, handing out medals at the finish line and any other help needed. Volunteers age 13-15 are welcome to volunteer with an adult. This is being held on Vietnam War Veterans Day, so you'll get to support the event and thank these veterans for their service! · Do you love going out in nature? The fabulous staff at Leopold's Preserve is launching a new independent volunteer opportunity, the Leopold's Preserve Trail Ambassador Volunteer Program! This opportunity is open to volunteers age 18+ and offers a flexible schedule, making it an ideal volunteer opportunity for those with busy lifestyles. Volunteers will help staff with the 7+ mile trail system, giving timely notice of maintenance issues and ensuring trail conditions are excellent. Required training will be held March 16, 8:30am, once completed you can begin volunteering independently! It's a win-win all around - you get outdoors, get in some good exercise and help the staff keep the trails safe for the public to enjoy! The Prince William County Office of Historic Preservation has openings for teen volunteers to be Junior Preservationists and support activities at the following historic sites: Brentsville Courthouse Historic Centre, Ben Lomond Historic Site, Bristoe Station Battlefield Heritage Park and Rippon Lodge! Volunteers will work with historians and historic interpreters doing many of the same jobs performed by adult volunteers with consideration for age. You'll have the chance to assist staff with special events, summer camps, education programs, and the daily operations of our many historic sites throughout Prince William County. Flexible days and hours - work weekly, monthly, special events, or during the summer. Site managers will be as accommodating as possible to meet needs for school or organization service hours. · Your office, group or club can provide the comfort of a hot meal during the winter months! Streetlight Community Outreach Ministries' hypothermia shelter located at 14716 Potomac Mills Road in Woodbridge has an ongoing need for groups to prepare and drop off meals for 30 adult residents through March 31. Meals are needed each night and should be prepared off-site and dropped off at the shelter between 6:30pm-7pm. There are many openings in March, and you'll feel great as you provide a hot, nourishing meal for the homeless to enjoy!
