· The hard-working staff at Prince William County Community Foundation is looking for volunteers to hand out food boxes on Saturday (November 23), 8am-3pm at 17965 Dumfries Shopping Center in Dumfries. Your help will bring Thanksgiving Joy to many local families dealing with food insecurity! Please email info@pwccfoundation.org to sign up.
· Girls on the Run of NOVA is preparing for their Fall 5K this weekend (November 23 and 24), and they need a lot of volunteers age 13+ to make this a successful event! 5Ks will be held on Saturday, November 23 at Dulles Town Center, Dulles and Sunday, November 24 at Pentagon City, Arlington. Jobs include Greeters, Buddy Runners, Cheer Marshals, Start and Finish Line Managers, Water Stops Managers, and much more. Volunteers are needed to fill positions at various times in the morning between 6am-10am. · You can help Manassas City families enjoy a Thanksgiving meal! Light of Life Church is hosting a City of Manassas Friendsgiving Outreach on Wednesday, November 27 to benefit vulnerable families in the city. The event will be held at Metz Middle School, 9950 Wellington Road in Manassas. Volunteers are needed to help set up, serve food, hand out coats/personal hygiene products/diapers, etc. and break down/clean up. It's a wonderful way to get into the spirit of Thanksgiving by helping our less fortunate neighbors! Please sign up for this meaningful event at https://lolc.breezechms.com/form/friendsgiving.
· Ho Ho Ho, Volunteer Prince William's program Untrim a Tree which provides holiday gifts for local children in Title I schools is now in full swing! We still have around 700 children waiting on Santa, so there's still time to sponsor a child or donate a Senior Basket! You'll feel great being part of a program which helped over 3,000 children have a Happy Christmas in 2023! Please email utat@volunteerprincewilliam.org for more information.
· You can help vulnerable children in the community have a Joyous Christmas! Volunteer Prince William needs volunteers to help with Untrim a Tree December 7, 8 and 9 at the Prince William County Fairgrounds. Volunteers age 16+ are welcome, volunteers under 16 are welcome to volunteer with a parent. Duties include greet donors and assist with unloading donations from their vehicle, place senior baskets in their proper area and move bags of toys from the check-in area to a storage area. Be prepared for prolonged standing and lifting of contractor bags which may weigh up to 20 pounds. · Is your group, club or family looking for a volunteer project this winter? The dedicated staff at Streetlight Community Outreach Ministries needs groups to prepare and drop off meals for 30 adult residents through March 30, 2025. Meals should be prepared off-site and dropped off at the shelter between 6:30pm-7pm.
