Who We Are

Computer CORE’s mission is to help low-income adults acquire the technological and life skills they need to pursue career aspirations.  Simply put, CORE is about jobs.  Our intensive basic computer training combined with our life skills and job-search assistance were developed with the goal of helping Northern Virginians find a job, launch a career and become self-sufficient.  CORE’s program also hopes to have a lasting impact on our student future endeavors and engagement as community members.

What We Do

CORE’s 18-week program includes:  (1) 114 hours of computer training; (2) keyboarding skills; (3) a home computer for those in need; and (4) job-readiness training and job-placement assistance.  CORE also offers a 6-week “Intro to Computers for Career Advancement” program, and job-seeker certificate programs focusing on banking and finance, retail and sales, the nonprofit sector and entrepreneurship.  Data from our December 2016 graduate surveys showed that six months after graduation, 84% of graduates had a new job and/or had received a pay raise/promotion.  At our June 2017 graduation, 32% of those graduates already had new employment, pay raises or promotions.
