Retired and Senior Volunteer Program

Thank you for your interest in RSVP - the Retired & Senior Volunteer Program. Since 1971, RSVP, one of the largest volunteer efforts in the nation for people 55 and over, has matched older adult volunteers who are willing to help with local organizations on the front lines of meeting community needs. RSVP projects link the skills of the volunteers with the identified needs of the community. RSVP is a part of Senior Corps, which is comprised of RSVP, Foster Grandparents and Senior Companions.

Mission:

The mission of RSVP is to provide meaningful service opportunities to adults aged 55 and older, matching their skills, life experiences and interests to help meet priority needs in the community.  Through this service, RSVP provides communities with valuable resources to meet those needs, enhancing the lives of the volunteers and those whom they serve.

Who Can Join RSVP:

Anyone age 55 or older who resides in Manassas, Manassas Park or Prince William County and has a desire to make a difference in the local community by utilizing their experience and skills to support vulnerable residents is welcome to join RSVP!

Where Does RSVP Serve the Community?

RSVP supports work sites in Manassas, Manassas Park and Prince William County. Volunteers deliver Meals on Wheels to homebound seniors, drive senior veterans to local doctor appointments, support the senior centers in Manassas and Woodbridge, assist staff at the Novant UVA Health System medical centers in Manassas and Haymarket and much more!

What Benefits Do I get from RSVP?

RSVP members receive a mileage reimbursement of 20 cents a mile (capped at $20 a month) and automatic enrollment in free volunteer insurance which covers volunteers during their shift. We also do a bi-monthly newsletter and hold an annual volunteer recognition event to thank everyone for their hard work.  Volunteers also enjoy flexible volunteer schedules, great opportunities to meet new people and make new friends and the satisfaction of knowing your good work is helping vulnerable residents in our local community!

Don’t be surprised if you discover you’re feeling better as a result of volunteering – a recent survey showed that 80% of Senior Corps volunteers reported improved health and less feelings of social isolation, while 70% of Senior Corps volunteers reported fewer symptoms of depression!
