You must be 18 years of age for this volunteer position and live in Northern Virginia, surrounding counties, or Washington D.C. We are currently looking for volunteers to staff our wildlife helpline. a great way to help wildlife. You will field questions from the public about how to respond to all kinds of wildlife situations, including injured, orphaned, sick, and nuisance wildlife. You will learn all about wildlife, such as when a baby bird or a mammal needs help or when it should be left alone, how to help injured wildlife, and how to humanely deal with critters in attics and under decks. The helpline volunteer shifts are 7 days per week, during the day, and you chose 2-hour shifts that are most convenient for you. You volunteer from your own home, using your computer to hear incoming messages and then returning calls to provide advice or a referral to a species-specific wildlife rehabilitator or wildlife veterinarian.
