Guiding Eyes for the Blind is in need of volunteer puppy sitters to help provide short-term relief for puppy raisers. These essential volunteers welcome future guide dog pups-in-training into their homes and provide a safe environment when their raisers need a break or need to be away from home. Sitters provide care, love, and they support the training of puppies being raised as future guide dogs and typically sits last 3-10 days. There is no cost for the sitter—the pup will come with the necessary supplies needed from the raiser.
Volunteer requirements:
- Must complete an application & the sitter onboarding process.
- Must live within an hour or so from Chantilly, VA or Prince William County
- Must have a vehicle to be able to attend puppy class with the pup if the sit occurs on a regularly scheduled class week.
- May have other pets in household
- No previous dog experience is required
