St Thomas UMC Food Pantry needs volunteers who can do weekly food donation pickups at area grocery stores providing food donations. Donations are picked up between 8am-10am Monday-Saturday and brought back to the food pantry. This opportunity is best for someone who is able to commit to weekly pickups at the same location. If you are not able to do it weekly, but would be willing to be on our sub list we would love to have you as well! We could use several people who would be available periodically if one of our regular volunteers is unable to be there.
The primary duties for this opportunity are weekly pickups of food at the grocery store receiving area, transport it to the food pantry in your vehicle (a larger vehicle or minivan is recommended), and help unload it with the food pantry volunteers. It takes approximately 1-2 hours or less, depending on where the grocery store is and traffic, etc. You must have the ability to lift approximately 40lbs.
