Volunteer: Gallery Docent

Gallery Docents play a vital role in the experience our visitors receive at the National Museum of the Marine Corps.  Gallery Docents are a highly trained set of volunteers who not only answer visitor questions but help to expand the understanding of Marine Corps history for our visitors.  Gallery Docents greet visitors, conduct specialized tours, assist with interactive exhibits and assist museum staff. 

The ideal candidate for this position need not have served in the Marine Corps or have military ties.  The chief requirement is an interest in Marine Corps history and a willingness to learn and share the story and lasting tribute to U.S. Marines--past, present, and future.

Gallery Docents requirements:

 -Submit an online application

- Complete an in person interview

- Complete 10 weekly training sessions

-Be able to volunteer a minimum of 8 hours per month

-Attend regularly scheduled continuing education sessions and meetings
