Volunteer: Bilingual Food Assistance Client Intake

If you’re bilingual in Spanish and English and a people person, the Food Assistance Client Intake Specialist is the role for you! You will greet and process clients arriving for assistance, update their client information, complete USDA forms and check, return calls to the food assistance line for messages and more. Volunteer hours are flexible Monday-Friday and include one evening shift. Must be at least 18 and bilingual in Spanish and English. Good customer service skills important. No prior experience needed; training is provided.

Bring wholesome food packages to the elderly and disabled in our community!  Friendly, compassionate volunteers are needed to pick up prepared food packages from our Hunger Resource Center, deliver them to Manassas-area clients’ homes and visit them for a few minutes to make their day. We provide the van and you bring the food to families with limited mobility. Hours flexible, weekdays and weekends. Drivers must be at least 21 years old and have a valid driver’s license.  Ride-along training is provided.  Teens can ride with drivers to assist.

Do you dislike seeing food going to waste while families in your community go hungry? Food Recovery Drivers are needed weekday mornings, especially Mondays, to pick up donations from Manassas-area grocery stores/restaurants and deliver the food to our Hunger Resource Center. We provide the van and you collect the food for hungry families. It's also a great way to accomplish two tasks at once, all before lunchtime - volunteering and your morning workout!  Volunteers must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Drivers must be at least 21 years old and have a valid driver’s license.  Teens can ride with drivers to assist. Ride-along training with experienced volunteer is provided.

SERVE is looking for volunteer groups of up to 6 to prepare and serve Dinner to the 92 residents of SERVE's Family Care Shelter on weeknights. Serving time for Dinner is 5pm. Meals may be brought in or prepared on-site in our fully equipped kitchen. Volunteers must supply all food ingredients for the meal. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old (ages 12 thru 17 welcome, but must volunteer with a responsible adult), prior experience with meals helpful. Volunteers will feel great knowing they are providing a home-cooked meal to adults and children coping with a homeless situation. This is a great group opportunity for offices!
