Brentsville Invasive Species Removal Volunteer Day

With the warmer months coming up, join staff and volunteers to help restore the trees along hiking trail at Brentsville Courthouse Historic Centre. This is part of a nationwide event called National Invasive Species Awareness Week (NISAW). It encourages learning about invasive species including vines that strangle trees. If you can pull your shoe strings, you have the skill to help pull destructive invasive Japanese honeysuckle vines. Cutting damaging English ivy vines requires a skill similar to cutting a partially cooked potato. No experience or knowledge needed. Wear closed toe shoes, long pants, and a long sleeve shirt. Bring work gloves and a hat that can get dirty. If you have a favorite clipper, pruner or sturdy rake, or trowel bring it. Meet in the parking lot of Brentsville Courthouse Historic Centre at 12229 Bristow Road, Bristow, VA.  Turn between the brick building and the Presbyterian church.  Please no pets. This is a good opportunity for Scouts conservation badge and students volunteer hours.
