Greetings, Prince William - Here's a wonderful event for a fantastic cause!  The fun staff at House of Mercy is holding their Annual Food Truck Festival September 30 in their parking lot, 8170 Flannery Court, Manassas 20109.  Fun-loving volunteers age 13+ are needed beginning at 7am for jobs such as Set Up, Parking, Raffle Tickets, Photo Booth, Dunk Tank and more!  Volunteers age 13-15 must volunteer with a parent, volunteers age 16+ can volunteer independently.  Credit for service hours available!  It sounds like a busy day of good food, fun activities and volunteering with good friends to support House of Mercy's programs!  Please visit https://bit.ly/3Rb7G3S to sign up, email kjohnson@houseofmercyva.org for more information.

  • Lace up your sneakers for the furbabies! The kind staff at Advocates for Abused and Abandoned Pets (A3P) is holding their "Pets 4 Life" 1K and 5K Walk/Run September 30 at Prince William Forest Park, 18170 Park Entrance Road, Triangle 22172. Your $50 registration will cover the entrance fee to the park. Check-in begins at 9am, the walk/run kicks off at 10am. Pets Welcome! Funds raised will support the homeless animals of A3P and Humane Society of Northern Virginia. You'll feel great as you get some good outdoor exercise and support the homeless animals!   • Calling all volunteers who are able to help at Bristoe Station Battlefield Heritage Park with assembling, distributing and lighting luminaries for the evening memorial! They need volunteers, including groups, to help assemble the luminaries the first week in October. Additional volunteers will be needed to distribute the luminaries on the battlefield trails the afternoon of October 14, 2pm-5pm, and lighting them in the early evening. All ages are welcome! Bring your scouts, church group, community group, running club, stroller group, family, work friends or otherwise and come be a part of honoring national history that happened right here in Prince William County!   • Can you believe it? Historic Manassas, Inc.'s Fall Jubilee is almost here, and volunteers are needed to support this fun, outdoor event happening on October 7 in Old Town Manassas!  Volunteers can help set up, monitor the music stages, and take photos/videos.  A few volunteers are also needed to act as Floaters, helping wherever needed.  Shifts are set up, some beginning as early as 6am, but everything's done by 6pm.  This is one of the most popular events held in Old Town, and you'll have a great time supporting the performers, enjoying music and tasting all sorts of delicious food!  Please email kim@historicmanassasinc.org for more information.
  • The wonderful staff at ACTS is holding their annual "I Walk for ACTS" fundraiser October 7 at Stonebridge at Potomac Town Center. They're in need of volunteers who can help with Set-Up, acting as Course Marshals and Tear Down once the walk/run is finished. Afterwards, stay to enjoy the Family Festival including games, music and activities for everyone! It's an early day, but you'll feel great knowing you're helping to support an event which allows ACTS to continue its many programs which help vulnerable residents in greater Prince William!   • Help support a fundraiser which will help pregnant women in need! Carried to Full Term is hosting Heroes for Housing, a bike ride fundraiser on October 7, 7am at Prince William Forest Park, 18170 Park Entrance Road, Triangle 22172. Volunteers are needed for various jobs both before and during the bike ride. By participating in this event, you'll be contributing directly to ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for these mothers and their unborn children.   • You can run or walk to support affordable housing! CFH (formerly Catholics for Housing) is holding their 5K Run/Walk for Affordable Housing October 8, 9am at Occoquan Regional Park. Participants can also take part in a Virtual Run/Walk October 8-22 at a location of their choice. You'll feel great as you participate and help raise awareness and funds to help local residents in need of affordable housing!   • Do you enjoy agriculture? Prince William Soil and Water Conservation District is hosting Farm Field Days October 11 and 12, 8am-1pm at the Prince William County Fairgrounds, 10624 Dumfries Road, Manassas 20112.  Volunteers are needed to support this event which educates 4th graders about agriculture and farm life.  Duties include helping set up, check in volunteers, monitor various agricultural stations, set up/monitor the concession stand and guide student groups from one station to the next.  No farm experience is needed, and all ages are welcome!  Lunch will be provided to volunteers once the event ends.  It sounds like a lot of fun as you help educate students about farm living!  Please visit https://bit.ly/3smBobx to register.  Questions?  Please email education@pwswcd.org or call 571.379.7514 to learn more.
  • Cleanup season is here, and the awesome folks at Friends of the Occoquan are holding their annual Fall River Cleanup October 14, 9am-12pm at various sites in Prince William and Fairfax County.   • Enjoy a fun event and support a great cause! Keep Prince William Beautiful is holding a Fall Festival Fundraiser October 14, 11am-4pm at Cedar Run Brewery, 12801 Hazelwood Drive, Nokesville 20181.  Volunteers are needed to help set up, break down, operate booths/games and maintain trash cans and grounds.  Two shifts are available, 10am-1:30pm and 1:30pm-5pm.  Volunteers age 16+ are welcome, volunteers age 12-15 must volunteer with a parent.  Credit for service hours will be available!  You'll feel great as you support this outdoor event which will help this wonderful agency purchase a much-needed company vehicle to help them continue litter programs and environmental educational/community outreach!  Please email abrown@kpwb.org to sign up and learn more.
