·   ACTS Hunger Prevention Center has a Critical Need for compassionate volunteers to deliver food to homebound seniors and individuals with disabilities in eastern PWC.  They have a particular need for deliveries on Mondays!  Food is picked up at ACTS, 17948 Dr. David Cline Lane in Dumfries and delivered to clients at their home.  Deliveries occur between 11am-1pm; most routes take about one hour.  Volunteers should be prepared to pick up boxes which may weigh up to 40 lbs.  It's a meaningful way to make a direct impact in just an hour of your time!  Please email SCouteau@actspwc.org to learn more.

·   Girls on the Run is looking for volunteers age 14+ to support their Spring 5K being held May 17 (at One Loudoun, Ashburn) and May 18 (at Pentagon City, Arlington)!  Volunteers are needed to fill positions at various times in the morning between 6am-10am.  There's something for everyone who wants to help!  Jobs include Greeters, Buddy Runners, Cheer Marshals, Start/Finish Line Managers, Water Stop Managers, and much more.  You'll feel great as you support this program which encourages fitness and confidence in young girls!  Interested volunteers can learn more by visiting https://bit.ly/4jfkq4z or visit www.gotrnova.org.  Many volunteer slots go fast, mark your calendar and sign up today!

·  Want to help the PWC Animal Shelter clear out invasive plants from their facility?  Join in the next Not in my PWC Invasives Removal cleanup being held May 16, 9am-12pm!  Another date is scheduled for June 20 at 9am.  The location is PWC Animal Services Center/Shelter, 14807 Bristow Road, Manassas 20112.  Help remove invasives, mainly honeysuckle and English ivy.  All ages are welcome, please bring your own tools, gloves, and water.  It's family friendly and a wonderful way to keep the animal shelter facility clear of invasive plants!  Please visit  https://bit.ly/4lnDIGx to sign up, email dnelson0512@yahoo.com to learn more.

·   You can help fight hunger!  The SERVE campus of Northern Virginia Family Service needs Food Recovery Drivers age 21+ to make routine food pick-ups from grocery stores and restaurants to help food insecure families.  Volunteers must be at least 21 years old with a valid driver's license and be able to lift up to 50lbs.  Training with an experienced volunteer or staff is provided; volunteers drive agency vehicles, not their own.  Bring along a friend to help - it's a great workout while you help feed local families!  Please email ncannon@nvfs.orgfor more information.

·  Is your office/club/civic organization looking for a meaningful group volunteer opportunity? The SERVE campus of Northern Virginia Family Service may have just what you're looking for!  Opportunities include providing a meal for 65 shelter guests, assisting with the upcoming Hunger Resource Center inventory June 30, providing and planting a garden for an early childhood program, and much more!  Think how great you'll feel as you help feed the homeless, improve food assistance for 600 families or have children experience the joys of a garden!  For more information, please send an email to ncannon@nvfs.org.

·   Spend Armed Forces Day supporting our veterans!  Northern Virginia Veterans Association needs volunteers to assist with their 1st Annual Poker Run on May 17 beginning at 9am!  The event starts and ends at Heritage Brewing in Manassas.  Volunteers are needed at each stop to hand out poker cards, snacks and fun swag to each registered participant.  All event items must be picked up from Heritage Brewing on May 17.  Other sites are Monks BBQ in Purcellville, American Legion in Warrenton and Old Bust Head Brewing in New Baltimore.  This will be a fun event, and you'll feel great as you help raise funds for vulnerable veterans' medical appointment transportation!  Please visit the Sign Up Genius page at https://bit.ly/3EUivTW to register, email Crystal.A@novavets.org for more information.

·  Prince William Special Olympics needs both adult and youth volunteers (minimum age 12 years) to support their programs. Volunteers can help with sports practices, assistant coaching, chaperoning or administrative duties.  No sport experience required!  Adult volunteers must complete a background check, training provided for ongoing volunteers.  Youth volunteers can get service hours credit.  You'll feel wonderful as you help special needs clients discover the joy of sports and achieve a sense of accomplishment and pride!  Please email areacoordinator@pwsova.org to learn how you can help.

·  The fun folks at Rainbow Therapeutic Riding Center, 16198 Silver Lake Roadin Haymarket have started their Kayak Camps but volunteers age 18+ are needed to support the camps' remaining dates on May 17, June 14, July 12 and July 26!  A maximum of 10 students ages 9-18 will attend each session and volunteers will receive the required training.  You'll feel fabulous as you help special needs clients gain self-confidence, build self-esteem and allow this agency to meet their mission of "Changing Lives, One Hoofbeat at a Time!"  Please email volunteercoordinator@rainbowriding.org for more information, visit www.rainbowriding.org to learn more.

·  The awesome staff at Sweet Julia Grace Foundation needs some more volunteers to support their SJGF Adult Field Day on May 17 at The Farm Brewery at Broad Run, 16015 John Marshall Highway in Broad Run 20137!  Individuals, families, groups and businesses are welcome!  Duties include setting up on May 16, helping set up games on May 17, helping run the games and cleaning up after the event.  You'll laugh, do good and feel good as you help this organization which supports children who are seriously ill, have special needs, or are currently facing a medical crisis!  Please visit https://bit.ly/3YwqCfZ to sign up and learn more.

·  You can support our men and women in the Marine Corps!  The two USO sites on Quantico Marine Base need volunteers to support their daily operations as well as special events.  Shifts run 4 hours, 7 days a week and there's plenty of ways you can help.  It's a wonderful way to say "Thank You" and "Semper Fi" to these brave troops, many of whom are far from home!  Please email hsullivan@uso.org for more information on how you can help.
