Greetings, Prince William - You and your family can help keep greater Prince William green!  Prince William 4-H is holding a 4-H Tree Planting Community Service Day on Saturday, April 15 starting at 9am at Bristoe Station Battlefield Park in Bristow.  You don't have to be a member of 4-H to help plant trees, everyone is welcome!  They want to plant 350 new trees, so lots of helping hands will be welcome to this family-friendly event!  Garden supplies are limited, so please bring your own gloves and shovels.  Please visit http://bit.ly/3TP7I0A to sign up, email PHardin@pwcgov.org to learn more.

  • The Town of Dumfries is holding their Community Cleanup and Storm Marking Day Saturday, April 15, 8:30am-12pm. Volunteers will meet at 17757 Main Street, Dumfries; cleaning supplies, water and snacks will be available.  Everyone is welcome to volunteer, but please note that minors need a parent or guardian's signature to complete the initial waiver for participation.  You'll feel great as you volunteer with friends and family while beautifying this wonderful town!  Please visit http://bit.ly/3LUaeAu to sign up or email RNickerson@dumfriesva.gov.
  • Save the date for PWC Community Connect, being held April 22, 10am-1pm.   • Mark your calendars! City of Manassas Park Community Services is holding a Community Day April 22, 10am-2pm at Manassas Park City Hall, 100 Park Central Plaza, Manassas Park!  They need lots of volunteers age 18+ beginning at 8am.  Duties include set up, welcome table, water table, support various vendor tables, parking, children's activities and clean up.  While bilingual skills in Spanish are not required, they are welcome and helpful in supporting this event.  Event will be held rain or shine (moved to Manassas Park High School in case of rain).  This promises to be a fun-filled day and you'll feel great as you share the resources and services Manassas Park offers its residents!  Please email i.monney@manassasparkva.gov for more information.
  • If you love trees, then Leopold's Preserve wants your help! They're holding an Earth Day Tree Planting event on April 22, 9am-12pm on their grounds located at 16290 Thoroughfare Road, Broad Run 20137.  Volunteers of all ages are welcome; be prepared to dig holes for the trees, plant them and give them their first drink of water.  This family-friendly event will help the agency develop a rare Piedmont savanna habitat on their facility.  Please visit leopoldspreserve.com/events-1/earth-day-volunteer-tree-planting/form to sign up, email mariepinto@whfarmfoundation.org for more information.
  • Volunteers with muscles needed! The wonderful staff at Keep Prince William Beautiful needs volunteers age 18+ to help with a Trail and Outdoor Classroom Repair project at Dale City Elementary School, 14450 Brook Drive Woodbridge 22193.  Since clearing the trail and installing the classrooms will require more than one day, they need volunteers for multiple projects; the first one will be held April 29, 9am-2pm.  Duties on this date will involve clearing the trail and removing vegetation around the areas of the outdoor classrooms.  Please be prepared to bring your own tools.  For safety reasons volunteers must be at least 18 for this first project.  You'll feel great as you help this school restore its trails and outdoor classrooms!  Please visit http://bit.ly/3ZYRwLo to register, email abrown@kpwb.org to learn more.
  • You can help cut the risk of injuries or death from home fires! American Red Cross needs volunteers to support the Sound the Alarm rally in Triangle on April 29, 9am-3pm.  Partnering with the Prince William County Fire Department, volunteers will visit homes to install free smoke alarms and share home fire safety education materials.  Families and friends welcome! Training will be provided on-site so previous experience is not needed.  It promises to be a fun day of preparing families against home fires and making the community safer.  Supplies such as smoke alarms, a drill, educational materials, and a map of your route for the day will be provided.  You'll feel great knowing you're providing a valuable service to your community and helping to save lives!  Please visit https://rdcrss.org/3U83BN6 for more information.
  • Mark your calendar! Jenkins Donelson Foundation is holding a Community Giveaway on April 29, 7am-3pm at Oak Shade Baptist Church, 3287 Old Catlett Road, Catlett 20119.  Volunteers age 12+ are needed to help set up, assist with handing out items to customers and clean up once the event is finished.  You'll feel great as you help vulnerable families get access to the items they so desperately need!  Please email thejdf@jdffeet.org to learn more.
  • Get out in the fresh air and help Leopold's Preserve! They need volunteers of all ages to help tidy up some of their trails on May 6, 8:30am-11am. Jobs include trimming overhanging vegetation, widening narrow sections of trail, and removing stones, fallen branches, or other obstacles on trail surfaces.
