Greetings, Prince William: If your kids are in need of service hours, Catholic Charities St. Lucy Food Project is hosting a family-friendly Day of Service on Saturday, March 29, 10am-1pm at their food warehouse located at 8426 Kao Circle, Manassas 20110.  You'll feel great as you help fight food insecurity by packing and sorting food donations and preparing bags for food collections!  Close-toed shoes are required; volunteers should be prepared for heavy lifting.  Parents/guardians, please submit a parental consent form for minors. ·   Cat Lovers!  The wonderful staff at Animal Allies is looking for cat-loving volunteers age 21+ who can provide foster homes for adult cats and kittens in the Woodbridge and Alexandria areas.  You'll feel fantastic as you help rescue homeless kitties off the streets and help find them forever families.  Fosters are helped with supplies and guidance while you help feed and love those furbabies!  If you can open your heart and home to a homeless cat/kitten, please fill out an application at https://www.animalalliesva.org/volunteer.  Please email services@animalalliesva.org for more information.

·   Brain Injury Services (BIS) has an ongoing need for volunteers to be PALS (Providing a Link for Survivors) for brain injury survivors in the local area.  Once a month outings for things such as coffee, walks, chess, lunch, etc. can help clients get their life back on track following a traumatic brain injury!  Please visit www.braininjurysvcs.org/volunteer/ for more information, email mthyen@braininjurysvcs.org or call 703.451.8881 ext. 232 to learn how you can help.

·   You can make a difference in the life of a child! CASA CIS needs volunteers age 21+ who care about children growing up in a safe, permanent and loving home.  The staff will hold their next Virtual Information Session on March 26, 6pm-7pm.  Learn how you can help protect abused and neglected children in your community by becoming a volunteer advocate.  Please email jpolen@casacis.org or call 703.330.8145 to receive the link to the meeting or to inquire about alternate dates.

·  April 5 is also the day when Friends of the Occoquan is holding their Spring River Clean-Up 2025 at five different sites in Prince William County!  Cleanups will be held 9am-12pm and preregistration is recommended.  Please visit www.friendsoftheoccoquan.org and scroll down to view the Spring Clean-Up information.  Please dress appropriately, volunteers are requested to bring their own filled water bottles.  You'll have a wonderful time with the family as you get out in the fresh air and be a River Hero, doing your part in keeping the source of Prince William's drinking water pristine!  Please email foto@friendsoftheoccoquan.org to sign up and ask any questions.

·  You can show your support of our Vietnam veterans!  Hero's Bridge is holding their Vietnam Veterans Day 5K on March 29 at Warrenton-Fauquier Airport, 1533 Iris Trail, Midland 22728 and they need volunteers age 16+ from 9am to 12pm to support the event.  Duties include directing parking traffic, cheering on runners, handing out water, handing out medals at the finish line and any other help needed.  Volunteers age 13-15 are welcome to volunteer with an adult.  This is being held on Vietnam War Veterans Day, so you'll get to support the event and thank these veterans for their service!  Please visit https://bit.ly/3Xho4ll and click the Respond button to sign up, email mwitmer@herosbridge.org to learn more.

·  Please join Prince William Conservation Alliance to volunteer for their Bluebell Festival on Sunday, March 30, at Merrimac Farm WMA, 15036-15098 Deepwood Lane, Nokesville. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old for this event.  Shifts are available for Set-Up, Parking, Welcoming, Trail Monitoring, Tour Announcers and Clean Up. ·  Do you speak fluent Spanish?  Are you interested in helping fathers improve their relationships with their children?  Prince William Fatherhood Initiative wants to meet you!  The program, part of PWC Social Services, needs Spanish speaking volunteers who can be Workshop Facilitators and Fatherhood Mentors at two ongoing workshops that are held evenings at various sites in Prince William County.  Having bilingual volunteers at the workshops will help bridge the language barrier for those clients who speak only Spanish and help them to participate fully in the sessions.  You'll feel great as you share your experiences as a parent and help clients to become better and more engaged members of their families!  Please visit https://bit.ly/426SKZp for more information and to register.  Please email Jeffery Faulkerson, MSSW at fatherhoodpwc@pwcgov.org for more information.

·  If you're a teen who loves history, here's something for you!  The Prince William County Office of Historic Preservation has openings for teen volunteers to be Junior Preservationists and support activities at Brentsville Courthouse Historic Centre, Ben Lomond Historic Site, Bristoe Station Battlefield Heritage Park and Rippon Lodge!  Volunteers will work with historians and historic interpreters doing many of the same jobs performed by adult volunteers with consideration for age.  Jobs include assist staff with special events, summer camps, education programs, and the daily operations of many historic sites throughout Prince William County.  Flexible days and hours - work weekly, monthly, special events, or during the summer.  Site managers will be as accommodating as possible to meet needs for school or organization service hours.  What a wonderful way to learn our local history!  Please visit www.volunteerprincewilliam.org and click on the appropriate volunteer opportunity for the site you want to support.  PS - Adult volunteers are also welcome!
