Good Morning Prince William - We have been notified by several agencies of events that are either cancelled or postponed.  If you are scheduled to volunteer for an event, please contact that agency to get their status.  For the latest information on COVID-19, please visit www.cdc.gov/covid19 and Prince William Emergency Information at https://emergency.pwcgov.org/.

  • Keep Prince William Beautiful is holding a day of plogging-outdoor fun, exercise, and community beautification in Haymarket, on March 28, 11am-1pm. Pick up litter as you move around the neighborhood and earn a coupon from Cookies and Cream Ice Cream Shop!  Meet at Cookies and Cream, 14650 Washington Street in Haymarket; event starts at 11am.  Please plan to arrive a few minutes early for registration and a brief introduction.  Sign up in advance at http://bit.ly/2VqRrmg.
  • Prince William Conservation Alliance is holding a Wildlife Garden Workday at Merrimac Farm April 4, 9am-12pm. Help wake up the garden for spring!  It's loads of fun watching wildlife, learning about native plants/pollinators, and getting ideas for your own backyard.  Meet at the Stone House, 15014 Deepwood Lane, Nokesville 20181.  All ages welcome, children under 12 must have parental supervision.  Please RSVP to alliance@pwconserve.org or call 703.490.5200.
  • ACTS Hunger Prevention Center has a critical need for Home Delivery Drivers to volunteer Thursdays 9am-3pm beginning March 26. Home Delivery Drivers must be able to lift and carry bags of groceries, have a valid driver's license, and vehicle insurance. Volunteers must complete and submit an online volunteer application found at actspwc.org prior to volunteering. Please contact Shirley at scouteau@actspwc.org or call 703.441.8606 ext. 212 for more information.
  • American Cancer Society is searching for volunteer drivers age 18+ to provide rides to and from treatments in the Prince William area through their Road to Recovery program. Volunteers must have a good driving record, current driver's license, proof of auto insurance and access to a safe and reliable vehicle.  To learn more or sign up to volunteer, please visit cancer.org/drive, contact Anna at anna.somers@cancer.org or call 703.213.5386.
  • House of Mercy is still accepting donations of nonperishable items for their food pantry so they can continue food assistance to needy families during COVID-19.  Please email scrooks@houseofmercyva.org to learn more.
  • SERVE needs volunteers in the Hunger Resource Center to assist with assembling food packages to distribute to clients who face food insecurity. Minimal client contact involved as volunteers will just pack up the food and take the food to the clients' vehicles for them to load in. If you're healthy, are not a part of the identified high-risk groups, and are comfortable leaving your home at this time, they would love to have you!  Interested volunteers should visit https://nvfs.volunteerhub.com/ and create an account.  Once they have created an account, they can sign up for HRC Warehouse Volunteers & HRC Warehouse Volunteers Short-Term Shifts.  Please email ncannon@nvfs.org to learn more.
  • SERVE also needs a couple volunteer groups (6-8 people) to prepare and serve meals to the 60-70 residents of their Manassas shelter. Groups can prepare a meal offsite and drop it off at the shelter to minimize contact.  Open Dates: Brunch April 5 and Dinner April 12 (Easter).  Please email jrmartinez@nvfs.org for more details.
